Sakana AI’s Japanese announcement, dated October 23, 2026, introduces Sakana Aquarium as a platform for building and operating AI agents that support organizational decision-making and execution. The pitch: connect scattered tables and documents in place under a common ontology, then let agents check information, judge, and act under defined rules—with people in the loop where required.

Three building blocks recur on the release note and product page. Ontology structures the knowledge, rules, and data that judgments rest on, and is meant to stay in sync when source systems update. Governance covers access control, approval before execution, and records from rationale through results, plus visibility into speed, quality, and model use. Managed Agents (the product page also says Agent Runtime) run tasks against that ontology; workflows, prompts, models, registered functions, and ontology references are described so agents can be deployed and managed over their lifecycle. The product page’s “Workflow as YAML” section states that practical processes can be expressed as executable workflows and that human approval can be embedded in those flows.

Sakana frames Aquarium as packaging work its FDE teams repeated across deployments—connecting data and aligning terms and decision criteria case by case—into a reusable organizational substrate. The release mentions prior applied work in finance and names partners in passing. Public list prices, a self-serve launch date, and which regions are generally available are not listed on Sakana’s announcement or product pages. The Aquarium site invites consultation via a contact form for introduction and use. For how Aquarium behaves on real operations, we have not tested yet. If you have used it, you can reach the site owner through the contact link in the footer.
