Cline says Desktop v0.0.49 can install and manage local models through Ollama or LM Studio. The source is an official X thread, not an install test on this site.

What Cline posted

Beijing time October 27, 2026, 04:11 (UTC October 26, 20:11), @cline listed what’s new in Cline Desktop v0.0.49. First item: install and manage local models through Ollama or LM Studio, and try it via Settings → Provider → Local. The post says Cline checks hardware and recommends the best local models available—those recommendations are Cline’s self-report, for reference only; recommendation quality has not been verified on specific machines on this site.

The same thread also mentions PR status summaries, keyboard shortcuts, an integrated terminal, and reviewing changes per turn. Those are side notes; local model management is the lead.

Scope

This article does not claim older Cline Desktop features—such as cloud parallel tasks or the Goal plugin—already included Ollama/LM Studio local installs. Download surfaces named in the thread point to cline.bot for MacOS/Windows/Linux; package-level install details are out of scope here.
