Your ChatGPT Dot can now send work into Codex for you. According to the ChatGPT account on X, it can start a job in Codex and follow up on threads that are already open. It draws on your ChatGPT conversations, your Codex threads and your automations, and the post says it has gotten better at choosing whether to keep a thread going or open a new one. OpenAI's dots documentation matches the broad picture: a Dot can create Codex tasks and continue existing local ones, and any work it starts in Codex still counts toward Codex usage as usual.
The announcement went up at 03:12 Beijing time on October 10. Tibo (@thsottiaux) quoted it at 12:16 the same day, calling it a pretty big upgrade for Dots. Official docs say Dots themselves are rolling out to eligible Pro plans outside the EEA, UK and Switzerland, to Business Premium worldwide, and to Enterprise when an admin turns them on. The Codex handoff posts don't add separate plan or device limits beyond that.
The same post briefly notes that the Dot can also review and edit Scheduled Tasks in ChatGPT Work — outside Codex, but part of the same update.
We're following Codex's recent desktop changes as they land. For the composer predictions that rolled out the same day, see "Codex Composer now predicts your next message for Pro users — and generating it doesn't burn usage".
