OpenAI Codex lead Tibo Sottiaux (@thsottiaux) posted Day 19 of the ongoing 28-day challenge at about 07:12 Beijing time on October 24, 2026. The post is titled “Small updates.”
There are two main points. Changing reasoning mid-conversation in Codex and Work no longer invalidates the prompt cache. Calls for Codex Dots also connect much faster, per the same post.
Tibo added that the Codex CLI was updated. A follow-up a minute later lists reusable prompt presets, inline model and permission settings, enterprise MCP sign-in, fixes for resuming long sessions, and Windows corporate-proxy authentication, plus a note that CLI usage has grown about 2× since DevDay. Details are in DigIntoAI’s Codex CLI 0.164.0 article.
We have not yet tested mid-chat reasoning changes and cache hits on our own machines. If you have, you can reach the site owner through the contact link in the footer. Related reading: Codex Dots: delegate and follow up from ChatGPT, Codex CLI 0.164.0, and Claude Code vs Codex: what $20 gets you.
