Cursor posted that agents can control your computer, including driving desktop apps such as the iOS Simulator, at about 23:59 Beijing time on October 23, 2026. Cursor’s Self-Hosted Computer Use docs say an agent on a Self-Hosted Machines worker can click, type, take screenshots, and drive applications with a UI on macOS and Linux workers, for both My Machines and Team Pools. When Chrome or Chromium is installed on the worker, the agent can also drive a browser.

Computer use is an explicit opt-in and is never enabled by the server. Start the worker with computer use before the start verb: `agent worker --computer-use start`. Pool workers use the same flag, for example `agent worker --pool gpu --computer-use start`. On macOS, the worker drives the signed-in desktop through a helper app named Cursor Computer Use and needs Accessibility plus Screen Recording permissions; on Linux, the worker uses an X11 display after desktop packages are installed. Desktop sharing with `--share-desktop` is Linux-only and separate from computer use.

This self-hosted desktop control is not the same product path as Cursor Remote Control from an iPhone, and it is not the managed cloud-agent Canvas and Environments work covered in Cursor Cloud Agents: Interactive Canvas, Environments API. For managed Cloud Agents’ computer-use behavior, Cursor points readers to its Cloud Agents Capabilities docs.

For install steps, permission prompts, and whether computer use works on a given Mac or Linux worker, we have not tested yet. If you have, you can reach the site owner through the contact link in the footer.
