In Beijing time on the evening of October 24, 2026 (UTC 12:33 the same day), Anthony Morris (@amorriscode) posted on X: “Yesterday was my last day at Anthropic.” He wrote that he created Claude Code on desktop because he believes everyone can be a builder, called community feature requests and bug reports a gift, and said contributing to Anthropic’s mission would remain a career highlight. Leaving friends, the product, and the mission, he added, was the hardest thing he had done in his career—and that he now had free time for GTA VI. He closed with: “I’ll share what’s next soon!”

The post is from Morris’s personal account. It is not a statement from Anthropic’s website or official company channels. He describes himself as the creator of Claude Code on desktop, not as the sole author of Claude Code as a whole or of the CLI. What he does next is not in this post.

Around the same wave of Claude Code personnel notes, Thariq Shihipar also posted about leaving Anthropic after more than a year on Claude Code.
