Anthropic released Claude Code 2.1.319, with GitHub Release v2.1.319 published at 2026-11-07 01:04:01 Asia/Shanghai. At this check, npm package @anthropic-ai/claude-code has latest = next = 2.1.319, while stable remains 2.1.311.
MCP tasks move to the background
According to the release notes, terminal sessions now support MCP tasks: when an MCP server runs a tool call as a task, Claude Code moves it to the background immediately and tells Claude the result when it finishes. This is task-based behavior, not a claim that every MCP tool call runs in the background.
The new permissions.denyInsteadOfPrompting setting addresses a different pause. A tool call that would wait for a permission prompt is denied, and the turn continues. The setting applies to terminal sessions, subagents and teammates. It does not automatically approve or execute the pending call.
Security fixes and gateway spending
The release notes also list fixes for sandbox escape, Bash permission bypass and other security issues.
Developers using a Claude apps gateway without a spend limit can see today's, this week's and this month's spending in /usage, provided the gateway runs 2.1.319 or later.
