Claude.ai sells personal and organization seats in US dollars on Anthropic’s official pricing page—Free, Pro, Max, and Ultra for individuals; Team and Enterprise for groups—not the same wall as Claude Platform token rates by model. List prices below exclude applicable tax and follow the live cards and comparison tables as of 2026-11-04 (Asia/Shanghai). Full model input/output tables for the API stay on Claude API Pricing (October 2026); this page stays on subscription seats, rolling usage windows, monthly Platform API credits, and team billing.
Personal plans at a glance
| Plan | List price (USD) | Usage (pricing-page wording) | Limit every 5 hours / every week |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Limited usage every 5 hours and every week* | Limited / Limited |
| Pro | $17/mo with annual billing ($200 billed up front) · $20 if billed monthly | More usage than Free, every 5 hours and every week* | 1x / 1x |
| Max | $100/mo (monthly only) | 5× Pro every 5 hours and every week* | 5x / 5x |
| Ultra | $200/mo (monthly only) | 10× Pro every week*; No 5-hour limit ‡ | No 5-hour limit ‡ / 10x |
\* Usage limits apply. How fast a window burns depends on model choice, conversation length, files, and features—there is no fixed message count. ‡ No 5-hour limit for verified accounts. Newer accounts may keep a temporary limit until verification.
Billing cycle on the comparison table: Pro lists Monthly and annual; Max and Ultra list Monthly only.
Free ($0). Everyday chat on web, desktop, and mobile; web search; file creation and code execution; memory; connectors; Artifacts; Claude Design, Slides, and Docs. Projects cap at up to 5. Claude Code is No on Free in the feature grid. Opus is No; Sonnet and Haiku are available. Usage is Limited on both the 5-hour and weekly rows.
Pro ($20 monthly · $17 annualized). Everything in Free, plus more usage than Free on both windows. The FAQ states Pro gives at least 5× more usage per 5-hour session than Free. Pro adds Claude Code, Projects without the Free five-project cap, Research, hand-off and scheduled tasks, Claude Dashboards (beta), Claude Science, Claude in Chrome and Microsoft 365, and access to more Claude models including Opus. Fable is available as Usage credits on Pro (not a free weekly share). Payment: credit card; monthly or annual.
Max ($100/mo). Everything in Pro, plus 5× Pro usage every 5 hours and every week*, Fable included up to half the weekly limit, $100 a month in API credits on the Claude Platform†, early access to advanced features, and priority access at high traffic times. Monthly billing only.
Ultra ($200/mo). Everything in Max, plus no 5-hour limit ‡ for verified accounts, 10× Pro weekly usage*, and $200 a month in API credits (up from $100 on Max)†. Monthly billing only. On the Models and usage grid, Ultra is the only personal column that drops the 5-hour row entirely for verified accounts while keeping a 10x weekly multiplier relative to Pro.
Max → Ultra rename (one line of history)
Anthropic’s @claudeai account announced that former Max 5x is now Max (still $100/mo) and former Max 20x is now Ultra (still $200/mo); existing subscribers need no action. The same post says verified Ultra accounts lose the 5-hour limit, while newer accounts may keep a temporary limit until verification. Live plan names on the pricing page are already Max and Ultra.
Models, Fable, Claude Code, and the shared pool
Across Free → Ultra, Sonnet and Haiku appear on Free; Opus joins from Pro up. Context windows are listed as up to 1M, varying by model. Fable on the comparison table: Free = No; Pro = Usage credits; Max / Ultra = 50% of weekly limits*. Team Premium seats also show Fable at 50% of weekly limits* on premium seats.
Claude Code is included in all paid plans and shares the same usage pool as Claude on web, desktop, and mobile—terminal sessions and chats draw from one allowance. Heavy coding can also move to usage-based API credits through a Console account. For how Pro and Max windows feel in practice for Claude Code, see How Claude Code Usage Limits Work on Pro and Max (October 2026). A closer Pro-versus-Max reading is Claude Pro vs Max—Price, Limits, and Who Should Upgrade (October 2026).
What the 5-hour and weekly limits mean
Most accounts have a limit that resets on a rolling five-hour session window; paid plans add weekly limits on top. Activity across Claude surfaces—including Claude Code—draws from the same pool. Anthropic may also apply other capacity controls (weekly/monthly caps or model/feature limits) at its discretion. There is still no published fixed message count per plan.
When a limit is hit, the FAQ path is: wait for the window to reset, move to a higher plan, or—on paid plans—turn on usage credits to keep working at standard API rates. Progress sits under Settings > Usage.
Monthly API credits (Platform, not a longer chat pool)
Max, Ultra, and Team include monthly credits for the Claude Platform (API / Console)—a separate meter from the subscription chat and Claude Code pool.
| Plan | Monthly API credit |
|---|---|
| Max | $100 |
| Ultra | $200 |
| Team Standard seat | $20 per seat* |
| Team Premium seat | $100 per seat* |
\* On Team, seat credits are pooled into one monthly balance, capped at $500. Help Center example: three Standard + two Premium seats → $260/mo.
Eligible: Max, Ultra, and Team (including discounted Team). Not eligible: Free, Pro, Enterprise.
Claim rules (Help Center): the plan must be active; new subscribers claim after seven days on an eligible plan; claim from claude.ai Billing by linking one Console organization (Max/Ultra subscriber, or Team Owner / Primary Owner). Only one Console org can be linked, and each org can receive credits from only one plan. Credits refresh each billing cycle, do not roll over, are spent before purchased credits, and are shared across API keys in the linked org. They cover Claude API (Messages and Batches), Console Playground, Managed Agents, and Agent SDK paths billed on that org—they do not cover interactive Claude Code, extra chat after a plan limit, or Claude on Bedrock / Vertex / Foundry. When the monthly balance runs out, further Platform usage needs purchased credits or auto-reload; it is never billed back onto the Claude.ai subscription. In short: Platform build credits, not a longer Claude.ai chat allowance.
Team (2–150 people)
Team is for organizations of 2 to 150. Standard and Premium seats can be mixed.
| Seat | Annualized | Monthly |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | $20/seat/mo | $25/seat/mo |
| Premium | $100/seat/mo | $125/seat/mo |
Pricing-page copy: Standard is all Claude features plus more usage than Pro*; Premium is 5× more usage than standard seats*. Help Center also states Standard at 1.25× Pro and Premium at 6.25× Pro per-session—useful as a footnote; the public cards lead with “more than Pro” / “5× Standard.” Help notes prices shown are for US customers and exclude applicable taxes. Team billing is monthly or annual; pooled monthly API credits up to $500. Limits are per member, not shared across the org. Beyond 150 seats, the upgrade path is Enterprise.
Enterprise and Education
Enterprise lists US$20 per seat per month, billed annually, with a 20 seat minimum, plus usage billed at API rates that scale with model and task. The plan stacks Team-class product access with stronger admin and security controls (SSO / domain capture, SCIM, audit logs, Compliance API, custom retention, spend controls, and related enterprise options on self-serve vs sales-assisted tables). Those rows are capability summaries, not compliance certifications. Self-serve and sales-assisted columns differ on invoicing, Marketplace, consultation, and similar partnership cells.
Education is described as a comprehensive university-wide plan; the pricing page does not publish a public per-seat dollar for Education—contact Anthropic for Education pricing.
After a limit, and how this map differs from the API wall
Hitting a window does not invent a leftover message count. Reset, upgrade, or (on paid plans) enable usage credits at standard API rates; check Settings > Usage. Organization Owners manage Team and self-serve Enterprise under Organization settings > Billing.
This guide is the Claude.ai subscription ladder: personal Free / Pro / Max / Ultra, Team seats, Enterprise seat-plus-usage, rolling 5-hour and weekly multipliers, Fable shares, Claude Code’s shared pool, and monthly Platform API credits. It is not a reprint of every Claude model’s per-million-token Platform price—that wall lives on Claude API Pricing (October 2026). A parallel consumer ladder at another vendor is ChatGPT Pricing (November 2026).
Prices, currencies, and taxes vary by region; Japan-facing checkout may show different local figures—confirm on the official pricing page and claude.ai/upgrade rather than converting USD mechanically. Tables change; when a cell disagrees with any static copy, Anthropic’s live pricing and Help Center pages govern.
