On October 27, 2026, Anthropic published a Partnerships post expanding its deal with the US General Services Administration (GSA). Government partners now get a 40% discount on Claude Enterprise, Claude for Government, and the Claude API. For the first time the cut applies across every product surface: agencies can buy direct from Anthropic today, and through cloud providers in the coming months. The same discount extends to state, local, tribal and territorial (SLTT) governments. There is no minimum spend—agencies pay for usage consumed—and Anthropic estimates about $1 billion in government savings. What the discount covers
The agreement is a broader public-sector channel, not a one-product promo. Claude Enterprise, Claude for Government, and Claude API usage all sit under the 40% pricing for eligible government partners. Anthropic says this is the first time the discount spans every product surface—direct buy is live now; cloud-provider paths follow in the coming months.
Anthropic is also launching a dedicated program in the coming weeks to help agencies implement Claude and bring over practices it already uses with private-sector customers. That sits beside the price cut as an adoption aid, not a substitute for agency security review.
Who is already using Claude in government
About 500 US federal, state, and local government organizations now use Claude. Weekly Claude for Government active users are up about eightfold since February, and usage across federal civilian agencies has grown about 20-fold in a year, per the same post. More agencies are past pilots; procurement cycles and tight budgets remain the usual bottleneck—hence a GSA-wide discount with SLTT reach.
Security posture and cloud paths
Claude for Government became generally available on September 30 at FedRAMP High, with near-feature parity with commercial offerings for coding and agentic work on sensitive unclassified workloads. Agencies that build their own tools can also run Claude through Amazon Bedrock or Google Cloud Vertex AI (Bedrock at FedRAMP High, with select models authorized for DoD IL4/IL5 in AWS GovCloud; Vertex at FedRAMP High).
