Google says in a blog post dated October 19, 2026, that Gemini Notebook now offers more creative control over two of its outputs, Slide Decks and Video Overviews. Instead of going straight from a prompt to a finished result, Notebook suggests topics based on the user's sources, then lets the user steer content, visual style and format.
How the Review toggle works
According to the Google Blog, turning on the new Review toggle adds a step in the studio panel: Review outline notes for slides, or Review producer notes for videos. Google gives examples such as adding an executive summary at the start or swapping the order of a scene. When the plan looks right, selecting Proceed produces the final artifact. Google adds that a prompt that already spells out what to create goes straight to the review flow, and that skipping the toggle still generates output as before.
The Gemini Notebook Help page for Slide Decks adds two details: all feedback on an outline should be entered at once, and after selecting Proceed the outline can no longer be refined. The Verge also reported the change, describing the Review toggle as a way to look over a final outline before rendering.
Who gets it
The Google Blog says the co-creation features are rolling out globally to all Gemini Notebook users over the upcoming week. The Slide Decks help page, however, says co-creating slide decks is only available for Google AI Ultra subscribers. Google has not explained the difference, so availability may depend on the account until the two pages match.
