Tibo’s first deliverable in his new improvement streak is a straightforward one: GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol are now faster by default. In his Day 1 post on X, he said default speed across subscription access has been optimized to be roughly 50% faster.
The speedup is not limited to OpenAI-owned products. According to the post, it also applies across products and partners using Sign in With ChatGPT, including OpenCode, Pi, Amp, and Devin, among others.
For users, the practical effect is simple. Tibo said no changes are needed on your end, and the faster default speed should be felt within the next two hours.
That first update lines up with the direction he outlined earlier. He previously said the team would focus on simplifications, more efficiency for more usage, groundbreaking features, and new models, while acknowledging that feedback was clear: people want things to get simpler.
In that sense, Day 1 is not another announcement about the plan itself. It is the first concrete result of that plan: faster default performance for models people are already using, with no extra steps required from users.
His earlier 28-day framing was that each day the team would either ship one clear improvement relevant to most codex/work users or ship a full reset. The Day 1 post clearly lands on the former: a practical efficiency gain.
He did not explain what “full reset” means in practice. The post does not say what would be reset, how it would work, or what parts of the product it would affect, so that phrase remains undefined for now. What is clear from this update is that the first day’s result is a default speed improvement for GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol.
