GitHub Copilot Assisted Permissions Is Generally Available
GitHub says Assisted permissions is generally available in GitHub Copilot CLI, the GitHub Copilot app, and Visual Studio Code. When Copilot asks to run a command, access a file system path, or open a URL, a large language model evaluates the request: clearly safe ones proceed automatically; everything else still needs manual approval. Enterprise admins can block Allow All while keeping Assisted, or disable Assisted separately, and can set a default permission mode for new sessions.

GPT-6.1 Terra Is Generally Available in GitHub Copilot
GitHub’s Changelog (October 26, 2026) says GPT-6.1 Terra is generally available in GitHub Copilot for everyday agentic coding and terminal work, at a lower cost than GPT-6.1 Sol. Billing follows provider list pricing under usage-based billing. It covers Copilot Pro, Pro+, Max, Business, and Enterprise across VS Code, Visual Studio, Copilot CLI, cloud agent, Copilot app, github.com, GitHub Mobile, JetBrains, Xcode, and Eclipse, with a gradual rollout. Business and Enterprise admins can manage access in the Copilot model policy. As of October 27, 2026 (Beijing time).
GitHub Copilot Impact Dashboard Adds Opt-In Industry Comparisons
GitHub’s October 22, 2026 Changelog says the Copilot Impact dashboard now has an “Industry comparison” section. Enterprises, and organizations not owned by an enterprise, can compare Copilot agentic adoption and leverage with aggregated peer benchmarks. Participation is opt-in and disabled by default. Results appear only in the dashboard—not in the Usage Metrics API, NDJSON exports, or downloads. The dashboard has not been signed into on this site; for reference only.
GitHub Copilot Usage Metrics Now Name Your Skills, Agents, and MCP Servers
GitHub’s October 22, 2026 Changelog says Copilot usage metrics now show the configured names of skills, custom agents, MCP servers, slash commands, and plugins an organization creates—instead of lumping them under other or custom. Each totals_by_* list can hold up to 25 named entries per record. Treat the numbers as trends and adoption signals, not an exact billing ledger. The API has not been called on this site; for reference only.
GitHub Copilot Usage Metrics Now Count OpenCode and Other Clients
GitHub’s Changelog says the Copilot usage metrics API now reports model usage from tools outside the IDE, including OpenCode. A new totals_by_client array appears in enterprise, organization, enterprise-user, and organization-user 1-day and 28-day reports. Server-side request counts close the gap left when those tools do not send editor telemetry. This is a governance and visibility update—not the same story as Copilot turning Teams notifications into fixes and PRs.
GitHub Copilot in Teams Turns Notifications into Fixes and PRs
GitHub’s Changelog says the new GitHub app in Microsoft Teams brings notifications and Copilot together. When an issue lands in a channel, group chat, or private chat, you can @mention GitHub to investigate, fix the bug, and open a pull request—without leaving the conversation. The legacy GitHub app will be renamed “GitHub (deprecated)” and retired on November 16, 2026.

GitHub suggests GPT-6.1 Sol, GPT-6 Luna, Gemini 3.8 Flash and Grok 4.7 as replacements. On the same date, GitHub made its Copilot model policy REST API generally available.
